The Motorola Droid 2 has now been available for a few days and we have already seen an iFixit teardown tee so what makes the new Android smartphone tick. The handset certainly had some big shoes to fill as the original Droid set the standard, but with a string of new phones running Google’s Mobile OS – a change was needed.
Chris Ziegler from Engadget has now had a chance to spend some time with the Droid 2 – which also gets an R2D2 version in November – to see how it stacks up against the original model and the new bunch of Android powered smartphones.
The Droid was never a perfect phone, but it had just enough in its array of features to make it the best selling Android handset, Motorola has not changed much with the new phone, but just enough to make it more of an evolution rather than a revolution.
The Droid still lacks in a number of areas and seems inferior when placed next to a Droid X or HTC Droid Incredible. Ziegler believes that if you are looking for the ultimate Android handsets, then these two phones are a better choice than the new Droid 2. However, if you are looking for a physical keyboard, then the Droid 2 is the only option for Verizon customers. If you were thinking of moving to Sprint – then might we suggest the new Samsung Epic 4G.
