An app which has been designed to help children master basic addition and subtraction facts has just been updated for owners of the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. MathTappers: Find Sums 1.5 is a free app which combines a simple game with helpful models that help children with the math that they are learning.
Released by HeavyLifters Network Ltd the app uses tools that are often used by teachers in the classroom that help children visualize relationships between numbers. The app was designed by University of Victoria mathematics educators Leslee Francis-Pelton and Tim Pelton.
Users are helped to master basic addition and subtraction skills with understanding so they can continue to develop and eventually improve their fluency.
Tim Pelton said “Find Sums isn’t a flashy, whiz-bang game, nor is it a dull series of flashcards, rather it is a pleasant low-stress game that encourages students to continually challenge themselves until they become proficient.”
MathTappers: Find Sums is available free on the App Store. Requires iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad with OS 3.1.3 or later.
