HTC Desire: Vodafone Customers To Get Real Android 2.2 FroYo Update Soon

By Updated on

After all the hullabaloo last week, when Vodafone customers downloaded and installed what they believed was an upgrade to Android 2.2 FroYo, only to find out it was a software upgrade that included Vodafone branded software that could not be removed, customers were left unsatisfied.

Rants and complaints were filed all over the internet, stating that they were unhappy with Vodafone’s decision to give them an update that consisted of changing and adding aspects of the phone that they did not want or like. Such as including bookmarks to dating websites, changing the homepage and startup screen, plus additions to the 360 service which it seemed Vodafone wanted to ‘promote.’

Of course, the ‘promotion’ failed miserably, and now it seems that Vodafone have backed down in their argument and will let users download the real Android 2.2 FroYo update without any of the added ‘bells and whistles’ within the next 7 to 10 days.

Vodafone 360 will still be available to customers, in the way of an optional download.

Are you happy that Vodafone are now issuing the real Android 2.2 Froyo update for your HTC Desire?
