ASUS Eee Tablet: Confirmed Release Date and Price Info

By Jamie Pert - Aug 6, 2010

If you want a cross between the Apple iPad and the Amazon Kindle you may be interested in the upcoming ASUS Eee Tablet, however we are hearing that initial price and release targets may not have been met.

Initially we were told to expect a price of between $199 and $299, however now ASUS is saying is that it will be “under $599”, also we were expecting a September release, however now ASUS believe it will launch in October.

Full specs are unknown at present, however we can confirm that it will feature a LCD TFT display and will have a 0.1s screen refresh rate, which is far superior to what E Ink displays can manage.

Other specs include a 2 megapixel camera a stylus and battery life of up to 10 hours, to me the Eee Tablet sounds more like an eReader than a tablet PC, let’s hope they successfully offer the best of both worlds.

Do you have high hopes for the Asus Eee Tablet?

They must be out of their minds if they think someone is going to buy a black and white writing device to replace a digital writing tablet at 600 🙂 I would consider 200 at the most. In any other case a proper Pad is a better purchase. .

    WOW – a 300% price increase…well done Asus …well done….

Huge disappointment. This went from being an must-have replacement for pen and paper to another sure-to-be-crippled device on an expensive data plan. Seriously, what is the point of a black and white device aimed at notetaking having cellular wireless access?
