Impressive Google Android Handset Sales – Eric Schmidt

There is no doubt that Google Android is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with in the mobile operating system market, however I must admit that even I (an Android fanboy) was surprised at just how well the OS is doing in terms of device sales.
Recently Google Ceo Eric Schmidt revealed that roughly 200,000 Android devices are now being sold every day, prior to this in Q2 2010 just 165,000 Android based devices were sold each day and in Q1 2010 a measly 65,000 Androd devices were sold per day.
200,000 devices per day over 90 days (Q3) equates to roughly 18 million device sales, which is over double the amount of iPhones shifted during Q2 2010.
This growth is amazing given the fact that the first time we ever saw Android in the mainstream was in October 2008, now it is hard to not see an Android device being advertised somewhere.
