Apple iPhone 4: iOS 4 Jailbreak Allows 3G Facetime

By Jamie Pert - Aug 2, 2010

If you are thinking about jailbreaking your iPhone, but not exactly sure what benefit you would actually get from it, here is one suggestion – FaceTime video calls over 3G.

Previously, iPhone 4 users could only use FaceTime when connected to an internet connection via WiFi. But now that the iPhone has been jailbroken all you need is a little bit of software called My3G from Cydia.

From what we gather, the quality of the calls do not seem to be affected, although the framerate fluctuates depending on your connection. This is to be expected though as what do you expect from a video-steam that is tailor made for high bandwidth connections?

For those of you who are still unsure about jailbraking your brand new iPhone 4, then there is an alternative. Check out the source for more information on that.

With FaceTime now available on the iPhone via 3G, will it sway your decision on jailbraking your iPhone 4?
