The iPhone 4 antenna continues to make headlines since the device came out last month. In the recent Apple press conference Steve Jobs said the death grip affects all Smartphone’s and not just the iPhone 4, now some new tests by PA Consulting Group have confirmed that Apple’s device is the most affected by the problem.
Dan Worth from v3.co.uk is reporting in an article that PA Consulting mentioned the BlackBerry 9700 and HTC HD2 are also prone to the signal reception issue but the iPhone 4 frequently had the worst performance of all the Smartphone’s.
The consultant who led the testing – Simon Tonks – said “Our tests indicate that the ‘death grip’ issue is real, and is worse for the Apple iPhone 4 than for other Smartphone’s,” “The iPhone 4′s radio performance was also found to be generally at the lower end. This means it will tend to drop calls earlier than other phones, and may suffer more in areas of weak signal.” But went on to say “Overall, it’s still within the normal performance range for similar products.”
More details of the findings can be found on the PA Consulting Group website, and we have a YouTube video for you below of the testing.
