Toyota Lexus LX 470 Recall: List Grows

We had hoped that the auto industry would be able to pick itself up following two years of poor sales, but constant recalls has certainly put a spanner in the works. Toyota has announced yet another recall, this time with the Lexus LX 470 SUV. This is not the first recall issued by the Japanese carmaker today, the also recalled the Avalon sedan, which you can read in more details from our recent article.

This latest recall affects 39,000 2003 to 2007 Lexus LX 470 SUVs due to yet another steering issue. Unlike the one from earlier, this one involves the snap ring that helps to retain two parts of the steering column. If for some reason your front wheels suffer from a heavy impact, the steering column in some cases could become dislodged.

If for some reason that the snap ring becomes displaced, then the entire steering column could work lose. This is a serious issue, one that Toyota needs to address ASAP. Thankfully there has not been any reports of accidents due to this fault.

According to Sam Abuelsamid from Autoblog, Lexus will be sending out letters in the post for LX 470 owners, with instructions on what they need to do.
