It turns out that the story relating to low Amazon Kindle stock was secretly uncovering something bigger. Amazon has just announced their new Kindle model. We have details on specs, pricing and a release date for US and UK consumers.
As reported from BGR, there is no name change for the new model, instead it will still be known as just the ‘Amazon Kindle’. The new model is thinner and lighter than the previous model and comes with double the capacity (3,500 books). The display screen on the new Kindle also features a 50% better constrast than the old one, and you’ll be able to read books in direct sunlight.
Here are the important details: The new Kindle will be available in the UK and US on August 27th. The WiFi model will be available in the UK and US for £109 and $139, while the 3G model will be available for £149 and $189.
