A police scanner application has just received an update to support iOS 4, and is also available on the Android platform. Police Scanner 2.2 allows users to listen to police, fire, and EMS activities across the globe. High resolution images are now supported following the release of the iPhone 4.
Released by Juicy Development this new version also allows iPhone 4 users to stream Police Scanner live, while accessing other applications. The Android version allows users to navigate and add favorites to the streams that they are searching for by using the easier to use interface. The app uses Wi-Fi, 3G, or the Edge network.
When additional stations, cities, and counties are added the database will automatically update, and will instantly become available to all scanner users. Using the location-aware technology built into the handsets users can easily locate streams close to them. Another option lets users search a list of every available stream across the country.
Police Scanner 2.2 is on the App Store for $4.99. Requires iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad with OS 3.1 or later. Police Scanner Android is available in the Android Market for $2.99
