Since Flipboard’s announcement on July 20, there has been a lot of interest surroung the new iPad application which collects and aggregates news feeds and information from Facebook, Twitter and other social networking websites in a digital magazine-styled layout.
Flipboard’s CEO Mike McCue has stated that the application receives over 1 billion messages every single day, and is rapidly becoming the go-to application to discover and share content via the web.
Users (or readers) are presented with a constantly updated magazine-styled layout to make it easier for them to browse through the news that is specifically tailored to their needs, in a view that can easily be navigated and customized.
Flipboard seems to have opened up a new gateway for users who would never even bother reading Twitter feeds or tweets, or looking through the constant Facebook updates of close friends and family. Instead, they can choose what information is presented to them, that will be presented in a completely unique and easy to access way, much like that of a magazine.
