HP PALMPAD: Trademark Filed – webOS-based iPad Rival?
By: Jamie Pert | July 19, 2010 | 2 Comments
When HP acquired Palm a few months ago lots of analysts and experts began wondering what exactly they had up their sleeve, the general feeling was that they would either begin dabbling in the smartphone market, or perhaps release a device that would compete against the Apple iPad.
Well it looks like an iPad rival could be in the works, recently HP filed a trademark for ‘PALMPAD’, which quite obviously seems fitting for a webOS-based tablet device.
Obviously it depends on how you interpret PALMPAD, perhaps it will be a device which fits in your palm, or perhaps it will be a Palm webOS-based tablet, what do you think?
Personally I would love to see the launch of a tablet running webOS, I have always said competition in certain markets is great for consumers, therefore if the PALMPAD could rival the iPad, perhaps Apple and other manufacturers will push the pricing and hardware boundaries.
What do you make of this news? Do you think the tablet market could soon see another front-runner?
