Another Facebook Scam: Coca-Cola video

By Gary Johnson - Jul 15, 2010

A new day and yet another Facebook problem surfaces with a new scam aimed at getting unwitting people to part with their personal information. This time a video promising to tell you the “truth” about Coca-Cola tries to trick Facebook users.

Stan Schroeder from Mashable.com is reporting that a message reads “I am part of the 98.0% of people that are NEVER gonna drink Coca Cola again after this HORRIFIC video,” A link is provided and when clicked you will be asked to share the video seven times.

The counter fails to work and you see another link that say’s “Cant Be Bothered To Wait? –> Click Here To Skip This,” clicking this will take you to a poll that will ask users to enter personal information. In another article by Jonathan Cordes over at Onlinesocialmedia.net the writer actually went to the second stage of the scam.

He reports that upon clicking the second link you are taken to a site that promises a range of prizes like an Xbox 360 or some Matalan vouchers. To have a chance of this you would have to provide information such as your full name and address, date of birth, email and phone numbers. It is always advised not to pass on this sort of information but some still can fall for such tricks.
