Earlier this month we mentioned that a new world record for the fastest production car had been broken. Do not fear Bugatti Veyron fans, as a Super Sport version of the awesome car is now the new world record holder. The new record now stands at 267.81 mph, but what would you expect from a car that has an 8-liter W-16 engine pushing out 1,200-horsepower.
All that extra power does come at a price though, According to John Pearley Huffman from Wheels Blog, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is to cost $2.5 million – and we thought the previous models were expensive.
There have been a number of revision to make this car go faster, so it is not all about the more powerful engine. Turbos and intercoolers are now much bigger, the larger intakes helps to improve power to these two systems.
To help keep the Veyron firmly planted to the floor there is a new air diffuser – offering greater downforce. The brakes have also been upgraded and so has the stronger carbon-fiber body.
If you would like to see a teaser video of the Bugatti Veyron Super Sports, then you can view it below. We do not know how long this record will stand, as we mentioned last week that Dagger GT plans to build a car capable of 300mph plus.
