It is almost certain that a new iPod Touch will launch later this year, therefore it is no surprise to see plenty of rumors regarding Apple’s fourth-generation iPod Touch.

Mac enthusiasts were hoping that the next iPod Touch would feature a 5 megapixel camera, however it is now looking more likely that a 3.2 megapixel sensor will be used due to design limitations.

An article recently posted on 9 to 5 Mac suggests that fitting a 5 MP camera into the current iPod Touch’s frame would not be possible, chances are the next gen iPod Touch will be more powerful, smaller and thinner, therefore 9 to 5 Mac believe that a 3.2 MP sensor would allow for a new refined design.

As with all Apple rumors we must take this with a pinch of salt, personally I am not sure what to believe, if the iPhone 4 features a thin design and a 5 megapixel camera, why can’t the fourth-gen iPod? Let’s face it Apple have achieved bigger things in the past!

Will a 3.2 megapixel sensor be a disappointment?

    Fail :)

But what if Apple completely changes the look of the iPod Touch the way they did with iPhone 4? I think it's likely that the new iPod Touch will look similar to the iPhone 4. If that is true, there is absolutely no reason why the new iPod Touch could not have a 5 megapixel camera.

As long as it has a camera. I just don't see myself paying a ton for a device like that, and it doesn't have a camera. That's the reason why I haven't bought an iPod yet.

I agree. I'd love for it to have the 5 MP camera, but I'm ok with a 3.2 MP. The lack of any camera is a huge reason I don't have an iPod Touch. I also don't care that it's not the iPhone. I don't miss the 3G radio since it has WiFi.

Sounds like none of you have ever seen an iPod touch before. First off the touch is already thinner then the iPhone so to add a camera to a now thinner iPod touch would make sense that a 5mp would not fit.
