Hands-on: Nintendo Wii Dual Pack Pro Tennis Rackets

By Posted 10 Jul 2010, 08:26

Summer is finally here and is time for you to get outside and get some fresh air, but for those who cannot tear themselves away from their games consoles – then you should still get some exercise in. The best console for that is the Nintendo Wii and there are a range of games and accessories to help you keep fit.

I have played a number of games on the Wii, some are hard such as the aerobics but others I find more enjoying such as tennis. However, I do find it hard to get into the game with just the Wii remote in my hand – my backhand does not seem that convincing.

Imagine my joy when I learned of the Sakar Dual Pack Pro Tennis Rackets. These accessories are almost full-size – so makes you feel as if you are putting more input into the game. There are two rackets in the pack and are made from plastic – yes they do feel a little cheaply made, but its not about that.

Having said that, these Dual Pack Pro Tennis Rackets take on a whole new feel once you place your Wii Remote or Motion Plus Controller in the handle. Adding that bit extra weight seems to add to the quality of the product.

I decided to give my friend a game of tennis – compatible games include: EA Sports Gran Slam Tennis, Mario Tennis, Top Spin 3, Sega Superstars and Virtua Tennis 2009 – I played the official EA one. From the moment I was ready for the return serve I found myself standing while leaning forward – just as you would on the court.

It took my friend and me at least 15 to 20 minutes to get used to using these rackets – finding that shots were a little different rather than just using the remote on its own. However, I believe that the quality of our game has now improved.

Overall I would have to give the Sakar Dual Pack Pro Tennis Rackets a big thumbs up, the only downside is how much room they take up in my cupboard where I keep all my games. If space is not a problem then you should consider the 3-in-1 Sports Pack, Pro Set Golf Club Pack or the Solo Shot Baseball Bat.

As of yet we do not have any pricing information, but you can see some of the other accessories offered by the brand below these images.
