Xbox Live: Sales Reach $1 Billion Mark

By Updated on

Xbox Live, a big part of Microsoft’s global network on the Xbox 360 console has earned an estimated $1 billion in revenue for the year ending June 30.

The majority of the sales came from Microsoft’s annual subscription fee which allows gamers to play games such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which ammased to over $600 million in revenue, says Business Week.

The other $400 million came from an increase in sales of downloadable content (DLC), avatars, accessories, TV shows, and films that also feature on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Since first getting my Xbox 360 back in early 2006 I have found myself buying more and more DLC, my first online purchase was the first-ever map pack for Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, now I buy a few things a month, however I refuse to pay to change my Gamertag.
