Motorola Droid X: Early Release Date for some?

By Alan Ng - Jul 7, 2010

We have some interesting news to report to you now, as it has been confirmed that some users are already receiving their Motorola Droid X handsets early, despite the official launch date being the 15th of July.

As reported from Phandroid, this is rather strange since Verizon isn’t offering the Motorola Droid X for pre-order. However, as you can see from the image above, units have already arrived at some users homes which has obviously made a few of you extremely lucky.

How have the handsets sneaked out early though? Phandroid reports that a call centre in Huntsville, AL has received more than a few calls concerning activation for the Droid X, which also means that Verizon will be aware of this.

Have you received your Droid X early?

I called and cancelled my Incredible order and they wouldn't let me change it to the X. Said I have to call back on the 15th.

That's ridiculous. I ordered the Incredible and the next day I found out about the X. I emailed customer service and they cancelled the order.

I'm wondering if these are the people that were supposedly allowed to switch their incredible orders to Droid X's. Could explain Verizon shipping them early.

I believe, this would be even better than the EVO. Although, the question is can it do 4G as well? Droid X Latest Updates
