Android 2.2 Froyo Release Dates: HTC Rollout Update

We have some great news for those of you with HTC phones and are looking forward to the moment when your update to Android 2.2 Froyo will happen, as HTC has given us a revised release period in which we should expect all updates to land.

As reported from Phandroid, devices like the HTC Desire, HTC Incredible and HTC EVO are due to be officially updated to Froyo soon, although the future doesn’t look good for older handsets like the HTC Hero and Droid Eris.

HTC’s Eric Lin has recently confirmed though, that the company are aiming to rollout all planned HTC updates to Android 2.2 Froyo before Christmas, which gives them around 5 months to get everything sorted.

It is nice to see the company giving users an update on the situation, as we all know how stressful it can be when planned updates are put back time and time again – just ask HTC Hero owners.

    Fitst of all your heading says: "Release Dates". No date mentioned. Next you give a release period of 5 months, which everyone has known it would be by the end of the year for the last, almost 2 months.

    The only thing you did is put up enough vague information to have readers look at your post and and get pissed of from your nothing headlines!!!

    When you get something concrete let us know.

    Before Christmas?!? I was thinking it would be by the end of July. They will be releasing this update about the time that Android 3.0 will be coming out. Love the phone, but that stinks.

    I do not understand. Why would sprint tweet 2.2 coming very soon to the HTC evo. Dec is not soon. I would think if they tweeted that then it would be in a month or sooner. What do other people think?

    Babs Johnson is right. Sprint’s tweet is nothing but self-serving promotion, a way to get people to buy phones. Both Htc and Sprint should shut their pie holes until they can define “soon,” and 5 or 6 months isn’t soon at all. We’ll be lucky to see it before that Mayan calendar hoodoo kicks in and we’re all vaporized.

    Before Christmas??? I'm not waiting that long! I am going to swap my Desire for an N900, screw HTC! I can't install any other apps without deleting some! How crap! 147mb for internal storage?!!! Are you fucking stupid HTC????!!!!

    Not sure if anyone has noticed this or not but the update for “qik for evo” app said in the change log “support for Android 2.2″ I took it as a good sign of things to come ;)
