Samsung has been turning up the heat with its Galaxy S range of phones, and the one thing that people want to know is; what version of Android will they have. All models in the series will come with Google Android 2.1 out the box, but 2.2 update will not be that far behind.
The four phones in the series are the Captivate, Epic 4G, Fascinate and the Vibrant. Chris Ziegler from Engadget learned from Samsung’s Twitter profile that Android 2.2 Froyo will be made available sometime this year and the smarphones would also benefit from Flash 10.1.
Those of you who are considering an Android based phone soon will be wondering why the likes of Samsung would not launch the new handset like the Epic 4G – competition for HTC EVO 4G – with Android 2.2 update already installed? The reason is because Samsung uses a custom UI and not the standard Google version.
Samsung is not the only phone maker under pressure to deliver the most up-to-date version of Google’s Android OS, Motorola and HTC – hopefully all will be updated before the year is out.
