Before Apple unveiled the iPhone 4 we managed to get a sneak peak at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S, this smartphone features decent hardware specifications including a Super AMOLED display, therefore it is no surprise to see that Verizon are planning to add it to their impressive list of offerings.
Apparently it should arrive before August (unconfirmed), however it will not be called the Samsung Galaxy S, instead they have opted to call it the Samsung Fascinate, which is especially confusing as T-Mobile have decided to call their Galaxy S the Samsung Vibrant.
The Fascinate features a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen, a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, WiFi (802.11n), 2 GB of internal memory, Bluetooth, GPS and a microSD memory card slot which supports cards of up to 16GB.
In my opinion one of the only things holding the Fascinate back is its OS, it will come pre-loaded with Google Android 2.1 (Eclair), however I think that Verizon should perhaps delay the launch and offer it with Android 2.2 (FroYo) instead.
IntoMobile predict that the Fascinate it will cost $200 as part of a a two-year deal, until we hear official word from Verizon we cant take this rumor too seriously.
Do you see the Samsung Fascinate as an alternative to the iPhone 4?
