Windows Phone 7: Release Date Update Details

By Alan Ng - Jun 25, 2010

We have some good news for those of you planning to pick up an Windows Phone 7 handset later on in the year, as Microsoft has inadvertently given us a release date update on when we can expect the new OS.

As reported from Engadget, Microsoft only stated previously that Windows Phone 7 would be available sometime during the holiday period this year.

However, Microsoft VP for Marketing Mich Mathews revealed at the Cannes Lions advertising conference that Windows Phone 7 will be available sometime in October – which narrows down the release period a lot.

That means that you’ll be able to pick up Windows Phone 7 first, before deciding whether or not to pick up their new Kinect motion device for the Xbox 360.

Will you be getting a WP7 handset in October? Let us know your thoughts on this.

I am waiting for the specification. I would love to get a new windonws phone but am concerned over the rumours that it will not support any form of memory card, limiting content to the build in memory. If this is true microsoft will certainly be shooting themselves in the foot.

Definately picking up a Win Phone 7. i have to say that I'm impressed with what I've seen of this release. Rather than just a new UI take as Apple has admirably done with the iPhone, MS has really created a new blending of service, hardware and software to cxreate a truly integrated application experience. Way to go MS.
