iOS 4 for iPhone 4: Review Roundup Before Download Release

By Peter Chubb - Jun 20, 2010

With just one day to go until what will be the biggest event of the year for Apple and its iPhone, we thought we would take a look at a few reviews of iOS 4 for the iPhone and what features it has to offer before its download release day tomorrow.

We thought we would pick three of the best reviews that appear on the Internet and see if they offer us some sort of insight before millions of us download the mobile operating system update on June 21, 2010.

The first review is from Cnet Reviews; many do not come as big as these, so we know that their review will be detailed and precise. We know that there are 100 main new features, but Steve Jobs did announce that there are 1,500 incremental improvements overall – all we care about are the best of these.

The best of the bunch has to be Multitasking – even though this feature has its limitations, E-mail, Folders, iMovie for iPhone, New Camera Software to work in conjunction with the improved 5-megapixel camera and much more. Read their full review via the link above.

The second is actually a video review; this 3-minute video will be able to offer you greater detail than a 1000 word article ever could. The video review looks at both the new iPhone 4 and iOS 4 and how well they work together – see the video review below.

The final Apple iOS 4 review is offered to us by PC Advisor. They take a close look to see whether the new OS is able to retake the lead in the very competitive mobile phone OS market?

Once you have downloaded the new iOS 4 for the iPhone tomorrow, please offer us your views.

  • My biggest complaint to register is the mail. I use gmail through mail program and now the trash icon sends mail into archives. I really don’t want to archive all my junk mail. Also the old swipe and delete now also archives. The only way to delete mail is to edit and move to trash. It takes a lot more time to do this.

The other thing I hate is in iTunes. The “On The Go” feature has now been changed to playlist and you can name the playlist but Apple is still missing the main feature to help create a playlist. They need to add that alphabet key vertically down the right side of the screen – the same way they have it for the songs, artists, etc in regular iPod. Otherwise, if you have many songs, artists, genres, etc.. you have to manually scroll through them all to pick a song. Very tedious. Ahh. Do you know if there is an official Apple site to give feedback? Thanks.
