Ikea 3 Million Recalls: List of Window Shades Affected

It has been reported that the world’s largest furniture retailer Ikea, are recalling 3.4 million window blinds and shades, after a child came close to death after nearly strangling himself with a cord.

As reported from Charlotte Observer, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued the recall yesterday, after it was revealed that a 1 and a half year-old boy from Lowell, USA almost died as a result of one of Ikea’s products.

According to the CPSC, three types of shades are affected by this recall. These include all Roman shades and roll-up blinds, which have been on sale since January 1998 to June 2009, and also roller blinds from those dates which don’t have certain tension devices.

The CPSC states that the cords are dangerous for young children, as the cords within these products can become caught with their necks – especially if the adjustment loop slides off from roll-up blinds.
