At the beginning of the week, Sprint claimed that the sales of the HTC EVO 4G went through the roof, so much infact that it eclipsed the sales of the Samsung Instinct and the Palm Pre. Sprint now claim that this was not entirely true.
The sales of the worlds first 4G phone were good, but not as good as stated by the carrier. Originally, Sprint said on Friday that the sales equated to 3 times that of the Samsung Instinct and the Palm Pre combined. Infact, they were in line with these phones within the first 3 days of sales.
Walter Piecyk, a BTIG analyst and Sprint watcher said that he believes Sprint sold 150,000 units over the first weekend, which is a considerable fall from an earlier forecast of 250,000-300,000.
One reason for the mis-information originally stated by Sprint, could be that the smartphone is in short supply all over the globe. It is either that, or the impending release of the Apple iPhone 4, which seems to have stolen the limelight from the HTC EVO 4G.
