iPhone 4: Netflix App Release Date this Summer

By Alan Ng - Jun 7, 2010

We have some good news for Netflix fans now, as company CEO Reed Hastings has just announced that a Netflix application is on the way to the iPhone. It will be available tsometime this Summer.

As reported from MacRumors, Hastings revealed the news during Apple’s WWDC event in San Francisco. You’ll be pleased to know that movies wcan be stopped on one device and then resumed on another another – very neat.

Hastings also added that the iPhone application will feature all the same functionality that you see on Netflix.com, which includes instant queues and recommendations.

Attendees at WWDC were also given a glimpse on how the search function works on the app, while users will also be able to seamlessly switch between networks on the go, using bitrate technology.

We’ll have a full review of the iPhone Netflix app soon. Give us your reaction to the news.

That is of corse, IF and WHEN it is released!

Actually, if you are someone who doesn’t have a next-gen gaming console or a blu-ray player, (all of which can stream netflix movies instantly,) than this is app is more than useful. Because you can also buy a set of component cables and plug your iPhone right into your TV and watch the movies that way.

The limited data plans only affects NEW/changing iPhone users. Existing ones with unlimited DATA can keep it as long as they live.

This app is more for killing time, just like every other app is. Unless you are on a train or a plane (with wi-fi/3G) and can plug in the phone, there’s no reason to watch a full length movie on your phone. So shut up!

With the new data plans it’s an insult to every new iPhone user to have this app out there..but we can’t really use it.

Its too bad the battery on iPhones are soo small.
Watching video via WiFi or 3G drains the battery very quickly.

That's a huge suprise in this summer, i guess~lol but I am a little worry about whether my iPhone 3G apps also work well on the new version, here is my apps list on my iPhone now:

Shazam- a free music application tells you what songs you’re listening to, what artist sings it, and where to buy it.

Winx DVD to iPhone Ripper-convert the DVD content to iPhone

Google App for the iPhone- I use this to search my phone for items such as Contacts, Applications, etc.

eReader-I use it to download ebooks directly to my iPhone.

So what’s my next plan? Of cause ,waiting for the iPhone 4G release day then test if my apps work well on the new version. Good luck for me~
