New iPhone Solar-Power: Not 4G in 2010, but its coming
By: Gary Johnson | June 6, 2010 | 2 CommentsWe already know some of the rumored new features that look to be coming to this year’s iPhone. These should all be revealed in Steve Jobs Keynote speech tomorrow at the WWDC 2010. But Apple has recently filed a patent that could bring a great feature to the iPhone in a couple of years.
James Mulroy of PCWorld.com is reporting on a story from Gizmodo.com about Apple’s patent on Touch Sensor Integrated Solar Panels on media players. This could be great news for future iPhone owners, but there is no guarantee the idea will ever see the light of day (pardon the pun).
According to the patent application submitted by Apple, they would cover the whole of the device with a thin film layer of solar cells, including the screen. This would completely harness the strength of the sun, turning the iPhone in to a highly efficient solar powered device.
Would you like to see a solar powered iPhone? Do you think this technology will ever make it on to any future Apple device?
