The Lexus LFA supercar should be delivered to proud owners in December, there have been reports that all 500 units are now sold, but it seems that this could not be true – we will get to that in another post. We thought we would take a closer look at this latest car from Toyota’s Lexus.
As we mentioned above, the LFA will not be available until December – this has not stopped experts such as Car and Driver getting their hands on one for a test drive so they can offer their readers a full review of the vehicle. The best thing about the review is how they test-drove the Lexus supercar on the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife track.
The first thing you need to know is how exotic the car looks, well it needs to be as this $350,000 vehicle will take on the likes of Ferrari and McLaren. In the past Lexus has been known for making boring cars – you cannot say that about the LFA. If there was ever an alternate universe – then this will be there.
The Lexus LFA is powered by a 4.8-liter V-10 – Toyota had a little help from Yamaha to help it develop 553 horsepower, giving it a top speed of over 200mph. More details on this can be found on our recent spec post.
There is no hiding the fact that the LFA looks like no other Lexus, the sharp edges is something that Ferrari or Lamborghini would have come up with. Lexus had a choice of three engines, a V8, but that proved too slow, a V12, but that was a heavy lump to carry – so the V10 got the job and what a sweet sound it makes. If you do not believe me then check out this recent post where the exhaust note was able to shatter a champagne glass.
