Samsung Galaxy Tab (sPad): Android Tablets To Be Released This Year

By Jamie Pert - Jun 3, 2010

Earlier this morning, Samsung made the announcement that they are planning the release of three Android tablets by the end of 2010. Soon after the news, the South African Samsung team decided that they would share an image with us that looks as like one of the three new tablets – The Samsung Galaxy Tab, previously named the sPad posing next to a Samsung Galaxy S.

According to news from Samsung, the Galaxy Tab has a 7-inch display, a high resolution LCD TFT display, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Other specifications can not be confirmed yet, but from what the image shows, it looks as though there is a microSD card icon in the status bar at the top aswell.

Also on the status bar, we can see a “no-signal” symbol that you usually get on Androids not connected to their 3G radios, this would almost certainly imply that the Samsung Galaxy Tab comes with WWAN.

It is thought that the tablet will be released in Korea this coming August in partnership with the carrier SK Telecom, and also hope to get a South African launch soon after.

Other information on the next two tabs are not yet confirmed, but rumors suggest that an 8-inch tablet will be arriving in October, and a 10-inch tablet landing in December, just in time for Christmas.
