With the Worldwide Developers Conference coming up on Monday, June 7, where Steve Jobs is expected to reveal some more information about the new iPhone, we take a closer look at Apple’s upcoming device, and check out the top 10 things we expect from it.
Although the phone was famously left in a bar and picked up by Gizmodo earlier last month, we still do not know the full extent of what to expect, as Apple usually always have one or two surprises up their sleeves.
One of the main talking points will be the new design. The new device looks as though the curved rounded edges are gone, and have been replaced with a squarer look. The back of the phone has also gone under the knife as the smooth, plastic finish has got it’s cosmetic surgery, and has been turned into a flat, glass surface. Oh, and not forgetting an aluminum border.
Resolution is a major factor of any phone on the market right now, and when Gizmodo acquired the iPhone, they say that the resolution appears to be higher than that of the iPhone 3GS, being at 960×640, rather than 480×320. The screen is infact smaller though.
Ever since the iPhone was put on the market, one of the many gripes that users hated was the battery life. It is well documented that users have to charge the phone sometimes once a day, just to keep it going. The new battery is rumored to have a 16 percent increase, which pathes the way for one of the most talked about features – Multitasking.
With the resolution enhancement, it would only be natural for users to demand more storage space so they can store more films for longer journeys and trips, plus with the ability to collapse apps in folders, a massive 2,160 applications should now be able to be stored rather than the 180 you get now.
Ebooks seem to have taken a boost with the release of the iPad, and it seems that Apple want to transfer the success over to the new iPhone. With the new iBookstore available, users will be able to download novels aswell as checking out the Kindle app so they can download titles from Amazon.
As we spoke about earlier, the new multitasking feature is going to need additional speed to make it successful. That is why Apple have implemented a new processor, similar to the one in the iPad.
One of the stranger things to expect from the new iPhone is the new microSIM card. According to Gizmodo, they say that the device they got hold of came with this new type of SIM. We are not sure if this will be in the final build or not, but if it is, then it means Apple will have to roll out all new SIMs for all Apple users. Something that probably could be avoided to save hassle.
Last and not least is the Wireless syncing feature. Something that has only been talked about with Apple enthusiasts. Wouldn’t it be great if you could wirelessly sync your iPhone with your computer? We will leave you with that thought.
These are just 10 things that we are expecting from the new Apple iPhone 4G, but I am sure there are plenty more you would like to get out of the device. Can you think of any?
