IPad Sales and New iPhone 2010: OS Familiarity

By Peter Chubb - Jun 1, 2010

There is no denying how well sales have been for the Apple iPad, there are so many reasons for this, but the main one has to be the idea of owning a sexy looking tablet device. There are those who would argue that its lack of Adobe Flash Player support is letting it down – but 2 million sales says otherwise.

Apple made the right decision to use iPhone OS on the iPad, its both fast and stable – which has to be the perfect combination. Do not think that it was just iPhone owners who purchased an Apple tablet device – some of them were new to Apple and its iPhone mobile operating system.

We wonder if the success of the iPad and the fact that it uses iPhone OS will bring new customers to the new 2010 iPhone? These users may like how the mobile OS works and have held of purchasing an iPhone until now. And it will not be long before we a see a new version of the software – iPhone OS 4.0 along with the iPhone 4G.

It is no secret that the iPhone is still the best selling smartphone on the market, but iPhone OS is under constant attack from Android OS. Apple hopes that it’s soon to be released iPhone OS 4.0 will help them fight back and gain its market share.

We have established that the iPad could help increase sales of the new iPhone in 2010, thanks to OS familiarity but the one thing that will see an instant boost is a Verizon version of the iPhone, which we have discussed in a recent post.
