HTC Droid Incredible: Android 2.2 Froyo Update after Root?

By Alan Ng - Jun 1, 2010

We have some good news for HTC Droid Incredible owners now, as a group of hackers have claimed that they have successfully rooted the handset – meaning that an Android 2.2 port is surely around the corner now.

As reported from Phandroid, Jake Day and BoostdScoob from AllDroid.org are the people you should thank for the root. They have posted up an image showing the HTC Incredible in it’s rooted form – although haven’t posted any instructions on how to perform the root – yet.

Now that the handset has been rooted, users can expect a custom ROM of Android 2.2 Froyo to release soon, as that is likely to be the next task for the hackers.

Stay tuned and we’ll update you when we hear more details. Let us know your thoughts on the news.

Jake Day is a liar when it comes to the Incredible. he claimed to have root a month before anyone else, and now you dare give him credit for it when the method that was publicly found, released and is being used has nothing to do with him? I will never trust anything coming from Jake Day or any article/site that gives him credit for anything to do with the HTC Incredible.

Root IS available now from the UnRevoked team, but the NAND is still protected.
