Acer Stream: Nexus One-like Specs

By Updated on

We mentioned this morning that the Acer Stream is just the latest Android smartphone coming to the market – what we did not tell you, was that the handset has Nexus One like specs. However, we expect the Stream to be more widely available with none of those 3G issues that has hampered sales of the Google superphone.

Unlike the Nexus One, the Acer Stream will run on Android 2.1, but should get an upgrade to 2.2 in time. The handset comes with a 3.7-inch AMOLED display, which the Taiwanese company seems very proud of – let us hope that they can get more from it than Apple could. More on this was discussed in a recent post.

That screen is capable of offering a contrast ration of 2000:1, which certainly does the 5-megapixel camera and 720p HD video justice. As you would imagine Acer has used the 1GHZ, Snapdragon processor – a staple diet of most Android handsets.

According to Mic Write from Electric Pig, he believes that the Acer Stream could tempt consumers away from other handset with similar specs, such as the HTC Desire. Do you agree?
