Verizon iPhone 4G Gaining Popularity: Customers Show Interest

By Peter Chubb - May 25, 2010

We are almost certain that Steve Jobs will announce the iPhone 4G on June 7 at WWDC 2010, but it is not known if a Verizon iPhone will get a mention. We know that there is huge support for the device, with 17 percent of The Big Red customers saying that they would upgrade – showing that the idea of a CDMA version of Apple’s smartphone is now gaining in popularity.

All Things Digital reports that Katy Huberty, an analyst for Morgan Stanley conducted a study to see Verizon customer interest in the iPhone, which you can see the result of in this graph. We are still not certain that a CDMA version exists, but there have been rumors that Verizon will get the iPhone in September.

The article also goes on to say that if Verizon were to get the iPhone 4G, then AT&T would not be affected by this – even though most customers would prefer the Big Red version. Apple would be stupid to turn down this carrier, as they could instantly shift 8 million units – this would certainly please Apple shareholders.

Let us wait and see what Steve Jobs has to say, we only have two weeks to go.
