Google Pacman Doodle: Did You Play The Game?

Google always try to make the effort to celebrate important anniversaries and birthday’s by changing their logo into the now well renowned ‘Google Doodle’, but it seems that Google latest doodle has backfired on business who go by the slogan ‘all work no play’.

According to Tony Wright at the RescueTime blog, Google’s latest ‘not a just a doodle’ cost the world 4.82million man hours, and potentially millions of dollars in productivity. He also claims that users spent an estimated 36 seconds more on the Google front page than usual.

But not all of us were aware of the doodle as a playable game. Google managed to slip in an ‘Insert Coin’ button next to the search button, something that could easily have been missed by the occasional Google searcher.

Wright also did more digging on how much time was wasted, and by using Wolfram Apha to find out some stats, has also estimated that $120,483,800 dollars were lost in the 4,819,352 minutes spent playing the game with a yellow animated dot and some squiggly multi-colored tea towels.

I’d much prefer playing a bit of Pacman than finding out how much money and hours were lost playing it. Wonder how much Tom Wright lost trying to figure it all out. Ironic isn’t it? Oh, if you missed the Google Pacman Doodle it can still be played here.
