Dell Streak Official: O2 UK Release Date Confirmed

Dell is not as good at keeping secrets like Apple – so comes as no surprise that the Streak oversized Android smartphone has now been made official. The computer maker is to release the Streak – formally the Mini 5 – next month on the O2 network in the UK.
It is certainly nice to see that the UK will get to see the device before Europe and even the U.S – they will not get their hands on the device until late summer. The Streak is Dell’s foot in the door in the smartphone market, and has taken a huge risk with launching the device with a huge 5-inch screen.
Dell has gone with Android for its mobile OS option, which will certainly work in its favor considering how popular Google’s operating system is at the moment. The Streak is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, has 16GB of built-in storage as well as being able to upgrade that to 48GB via a MicroSD card.
As with all third-party Android OS devices, the Streak comes with a customized UI, so will not get the Android 2.2 OS update for some time. For those of you who do not know, the Dell Streak is so much more than a smartphone – it is also a small tablet device. For more details on this read Vladislav Savov’s article over on Engadget
