Project Natal Price (Xbox 360): Microsoft Statement

By Posted 18 May 2010, 04:17

Following on from our previous article, which informed you about the potential $200 (£132) price point for the Project Natal software on the Xbox 360, Microsoft has issued a statement regarding the matter.

As reported from VG247, Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg has quickly played down the rumors, by saying that the details released yesterday were ‘pure speculation’.

In his full statement with PlanetXbox360, he had this to say on the pricing: “Our retail partners are not yet aware of details on pricing for “Project Natal” and pre-order placeholders are purely speculation. We will share price details with partners and the public as we get closer to launch.”

So, what do you make of that? Neither a confirmation or instant denial of the price. Remember how everyone thought it would come in at around $50? It seems like everyone might be in for a shock when pricing is finally confirmed.

Let us know your thoughts on this. Would you buy it at the above price point or not?

I would be willing to spend $100 tops for Natal, any higher and my interest in Natal will decline.

    • Ps3

I Would pay $150 max… I own a Ps3 and im really considering getting a xbox and a Natal on release .. but Ps3 will always be my fave console =)

id buy it if it was 300 dollars that stuffs real

No way will it be $200. MS must love this. Get everyone thinking it will be $200 and then release it for $60-80.

Who cares? There're a lot of factors about video games that just dont work with natal. We already know hardcore game won't work on it; dual pistols/uzi's, bow&arrows, axes, lightsabers etc., but a lot of games have depth in terms of longevity, story, game mechanics. A lot of those games also require hours of time. Are you gonna be standing for hours just to play a game? Those games also require you to be seated comfortably. Doesnt work for Natal. When watching E3 last year, you could think about games that'd work on Move. Not so with Natal. It's just a casual affair. I want something i can invest in, long term.

"We already know hardcore game won't work on it; dual pistols/uzi's, bow&arrows, axes, lightsabers etc." …. strange co's I can think of ways these "props" can easily be done on natal… the thing will read your arm movements, easy enough for them to just stick whatever in your on-screen hand. I do think implementing movement ie. running, walking etc. for shooters needs some sort of control stick though, can't quite get my head around how they will do that without a stick/pad.

hey retard wii sold more then the ps3 and xbox 360 combined

I was talking about shooters and the like, retard. Learn to read. If it's jumping up&down to play, then you'd be standing. But if its a shooter, it'd be better to be seated.

ur stupid. how would it be better to sit while playing a shooter. ur just so stupid and lazy that u would be playing sport game or something like that on natal and u would sit. ur just hating on natal because itll be the best motion expierance yet and prolly will be years after its release. ;(

I’d buy it even if it does get high price. And besides that theirs rumors of a new xbox 360 being launched with natal. so if if thats the case, it would be a really good price. New Xbox 360 + natal = $150-$250. even if if You are standing. its no different than playing a wii. the guy that said that just needs to stop being lazy and complaining. natal will be great :)

Project Natal is very inovative for Interface control but not for gaming, Sonys commercial dissing them tells you why I would rather have a physical item in my hand to add that 3ed dimension otherwise its just to gimmicky. I would rather spend that money on a PS3 and Playstation move if you ask me.
