We have some good news for Amazon Kindle owners and Android users now, and that is the announcement that Kindle is coming to Android phones with the Kindle for Android application.

Amazon Kindle is currently only available for Windows, MAC OS X and a fine selection of mobile devices, but this is the first of it’s kind for the Android generation.

Amazon have said that the application will allow users to use some of the features without owning a physical Kindle. One of the features that Amazon have talked about is Whispersync technology, which automatically synchronizes your last page read, bookmarks, notes and highlights across your Kindle and Kindle-compatible devices including PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and BlackBerry.”

Kindle for Android users can also browse books, access their Kindle books without having their Kindle handy, add bookmarks, and read in portrait or landscape mode. Many more features are also on there way too.

The application requires you to have Android OS 1.6 or later, an SD card, and will also support the Google Nexus One, Droid Incredible, Motorola CLIQ, HTC MyTouch and plenty of other Android enabled devices.

How do you feel about Kindle being made available for Android users?
