Apple iPad 3G: Walmart Release Date by end of 2010

For those of you who are waiting for the Apple iPad to come down in price, you’ll be pleased to know that Walmart are planning to sell the device in their stores towards the end of this year in the U.S.

As reported from Apple Insider, Apple stated back in February that the company was planning to distribute the iPad to other retailers ‘over time’, so it looks likely that Walmart will be one of the first companies to stock the tablet device, following on from Best Buy.

In a telephone interview with BusinessWeek, Gary Severson, senior vice president of entertainment for WalMart had this to say on the subject: “We anticipate being able to have the iPad later this year.”

He didn’t disclose specific details on this though, in relation to availability, release or pricing. We’ll update you when we know more. Let us know your thoughts on this.

This is ridiculous. If you know anything about Apple how can you suggest that this is going to result in iPad price reductions. Unless you think Walmart selling it for $5 less then everyone else = a "price reduction".
