Motorola Xtreme: Droid 2 Release Hints on Verizon?

By Alan Ng - May 13, 2010

Some interesting details to bring to Motorola fans now, as it has been rumored that Motorola are planning to test out their next high-end smartphone next week, thought to be called the Motorola Xtreme.

As reported from Phandroid, the details surface from Engadget, who have apparently been given the information by way of a tipster.

While speculation lingers on the Xtreme tagline, this handset from Motorola could also be touted as the Motorola ‘Droid 2’, while Phandroid note that the device could even be the new branding for the Shadow.

Early days yet, but Motorola show no signs of slowing down their relentless Android train. Let’s hope it is a 2.2 affair, rather than a 2.1 outing.

What are your thoughts on this unannounced handset? Is it the right time to drop the Motorola Droid 2 or not? We’ll update you when we hear more details.

they should be nearing completion of droid 2 if its going to be coming out in the fall. Basically it just needs to have all the hardware and software support that all the android 2.2's will have (IE 2 cameras, a 1ghz processor minimum, stalk flash integration, and all the other bells and whistles) maybe even motoblur incorporation?

It's kinda early to be dropping another handset especially if it's gonna be claimed as the Droid 2, but then again following up with the hype and keeping customers excited and wanting more makes sense as well. All I have to say is if there's gonna be more phones coming our way they better have the features to back them up, for example don't let this be claimed as the Droid 2 and the only difference is a larger keyboard
