iPhone, iPad and Android Square Payment System Live

We first learned of the Square Payment System last year, but we can now tell you that the system is now live for the Apple iPhone, iPad and Android. We can also tell you that the apps for each device is now live on their respective app stores.

It was assumed that the apps would land sometime this week – but we did not know it would be this soon. These applications will work in conjunction with the small card reader that connects to the 3.5mm headphone jack. If you sign up to the company, then they will give the new device away for FREE.

However, be warned that using the Square Payment System is not free, retailers will pay fees from 2.75 percent as well as a 15 cent surcharge. Do not let that put you off though as Engadget explains that this is much cheaper than many other options on the market.
