Simplicity and Graco Cribs: 2010 Recall over hardware failures

By Alan Ng - May 3, 2010

It has been reported that the U.S government has recalled thousands of Simplicity and Graco cribs, over fears that the cribs could suffocate or strangle babies due to hardware issues.

As reported from MontgomeryAdvertiser, hundreds of thousands of Simplicity cribs could now be recalled, while a further 217,000 Graco cribs made by LaJobi are also being recalled.

One death has already been linked to the cribs, so it seems the Consumer Product Safety Commission are now taking appropriate measures to ensure that no more deaths occur.

Hardware failures differ between both cribs, with the Simplicity crib having problems with it’s tubular metal mattress-support frames, while the dropside on the Graco Crib could break or detach – which could strangle or suffocate a baby.

Do you own either crib? Head to the link above for further information and details on how you can obtain a retrofit kit to solve the dropside problem.
