The Guardian is reporting that the American division of the Honda Motor Company has issued a recall to their Acura TSX model. The recall affects about 167,000 cars that need a power steering hose replacing. Back in 2007 we reported on a similar recall Honda made.
The Models affected are from the 2004-2008 model years, the power steering hose can deteriorate prematurely and oil might leak onto the hot exhaust pipe, this could cause a burning smell and smoke, or in a worst case scenario even a fire.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website states that high temperatures under the hood may cause the hose to crack and leak power steering oil. There have been no reports of any injuries or accidents so far, and Honda is expecting the recall to begin later this month. The hose will be replaced and sealed by Honda dealers free of charge.
