iPhone 4G at WWDC 2010: UK Exceptions

By Peter Chubb - Apr 29, 2010

We discussed yesterday that Apple had announced that WWDC 2010 will begin on June 7 and will run until June 11 at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco. And the one thing that we hope Steve Jobs announces during his keynote is the iPhone 4G.

We know that Jobs will focus on the iPad, the iPhone OS 4.0, but it is the new versions of the iPhone and OS X that we want. However, we have to wonder if the iPhone 4G is outed, what will the UK expectations be? Apple normally launch a new handset a few weeks after announcing it – last year both the U.S. and UK got the iPhone 3GS on the same day, but this has not always been the case.

When the original iPhone was released back in 2007, the UK did not get the handset for months after, this was also the case this year with the iPad. It certainly seems unfair that Apple favors the U.S. over the UK, but poor stock levels dictate to them their release road map.

We just hope that Apple will stock pile a huge number of the iPhone 4G – they know that the device will sell in its millions in just the first few day, so there is no excuse to say that did not expect these amount of sales.

Do you think that the iPhone 4G will be released in the UK at the same time as the U.S.?

I am a UK resident also, and i think that a delay from us to uk isnt an all bad thing. Any faults that they have with the new os on the new hardware is going to get tested on the yanks for a month or so then we get the "tighter" model. Also if you see the phone running, on you tube and such, then youll have more time to really decide if the iphone is the phone for you, I dont know why people ar so intent on buying the new iphone the day it comes out, the iphone isnt the only great phone out there.

Couldn't agree more with the above two comments. If it is delayed, then i may just go get one of the nokia N series, or maybe the HD vivaz. There are plenty of great phones out there, so if the new i-phone is not around until October, then so long Apple.

I have been awaiting for my upgrade since january and have not upgraded my phn yet as i am still awaiting for this so called iphone to release. Its will be unfair if it does not release in the uk at the same time if this happens i will have no options but to buy a different phn, as my handset is faulty. hurry up iphone creaters and lauch this iphone 4g.

As a UK resident, if Apple release the Iphone 4G/HD in the US first and make UK wait I will be quite angry. I have been waiting on this new iphone for some months now so if they delay the uk release I will prob look at other phones and say a big good bye to Apple. For me it is the US who should wait as they release photos of the new iphone not the UK. Come on Apple just release the phone why keep everyone waiting as you are losing loads of sales as people are buying other smart phones because they are sick of waiting.
