Verizon Nexus One: The main reason it’s not coming

Following on from the somewhat disappointing revelation that the Google Nexus One handset will ‘not’ be coming to Verizon customers after all, we have heard a recent statement from Verizon themselves regarding the matter.

As reported from Gearlog, we have heard from both Google and Verizon today on the current stance on the Nexus One.

As we informed you earlier, Google updated their website listing for the Nexus One, instead recommending the HTC Droid Incredible handset for Verizon customers. Verizon Wireless quickly responded to this with the following statement:

“Verizon had never made a comment or statement about the product coming to our network. In the beginning, Google made the statement about the product coming to the Verizon Wireless network and we never made comment around it.”

With that said, a Google spokesman cleared up the situation further by confirming that the main reason the handset will not be appearing on Verizon’s network was due to the ‘Android ecosystem’. Google continued:

”Google won’t be selling a Nexus One with Verizon, and this is a reflection of the amazing innovation happening across the open Android ecosystem.”
