iPhone 4G: Google Maps on OS 4.0 – No Chance

Last week we informed you that Google ‘might’ be rolling out their free turn-by-turn navigation update to iPhone owners. However, we have heard from Google directly, that this won’t be happening now.
Android handset owners in the U.S have had the turn-by-turn update for a while now, with last week finally giving owners in Europe the chance to use the software.
Regarding an update for iPhone users though, a Google spokesman had this to say when speaking to PC World: “We did not say we would bring it to iPhone, we said to date we’ve had it on Android and that in the future it may come to other platforms but did not confirm this will be coming to iPhone at all.”
This will surely be a disappointment for iPhone owners, who are regular users of the Google Maps application. We’ll update you if we hear more regarding this matter.
Let us know your thoughts on the news.
