Super Street Fighter IV (SSFIV): PS3 Vs Xbox 360 Comparison

By Posted 17 Apr 2010, 12:30

For those of you planning to pick up Capcom’s Super Street Fighter IV on either the Xbox 360 or PS3, we have some HD screenshots to show you now, comparing the differences between the two versions.

The graphics comparison comes to us courtesy of German site VideoGamesZone, who have uploaded a batch of screenshots over at their website.

There are nine images in total, with the PS3 version appearing at the top, Xbox 360 at the bottom. To view the images in HD, simply click the bottom right link which says ‘Bild in Originalgröße’.

Personally, I dont see a lot of difference between the two platforms. Maybe I am just getting a color overload and can’t see anything properly – what do you reckon?

On a second glance, maybe there are slightly more jaggies on the PS3 version than Xbox 360 version, take the vehicle in picture two for an example of this.

Make sure you view these in full screen. Let us know your thoughts afterwards.

Xbox one looks better to me! anyway more people on Xbl than psn

  • slaYer127

the ps3 looks like it has more vivid colors. just look at the red outfit in both shots, remember the ps3 is on top.

  • kjavatar

actually marhorn the psn now has quite a few more users than xbl does psn has around 32,000 xbl has i think, 28,000. dont quote me on those numbers im not 100% sure

    • marhorn

Well I am 100% sure! Xbox live has a lot more than psn. And those numbers are WAY OFF!

      • PClover

lol@marhorn for being a fanboy, i dont own either console, not that it makes a difference.

ps3 version is very shit not real 720P but 644P as read dead redemption and GTA4, xbox 360 is full hd 1080P, better color, frame. PS3 aliasing too bad, online freeze, all are better in xbox 360

    • Nicholas

Your such a fanboy. The Xbox CANNOT do native 1080p, you idiot. Games aren't even IN 1080p on the consoles, they are in 720p. And I have no problems online, and the aliasing isn't bad, you idiot. The game looks great on both consoles.

      • Mr P.

        'aliasing isn't bad, you idiot'

I think you'll find you're the idiot. Its not bad, its terrible. If it was as good as the 360's you wouldnt see those jagged lines. No im not a fanboy, im just stating the obvious. Overall they both look great, but gameplay wise 360 wins hands down. PS3 controller is shit for SSF4. And most other games i.e COD, GTA

        • Kan

          You're kidding right?
for street fighter especially the 360 controller is shit, up/down/left/right doesn't work well at all on the 360 controller, the ps3's is precise.
as for the Anti Aliasing, both the ps3 and 360 use DIFFERENT METHODS
the developers, in this case, chose to gear the game towards the 360, and just didn't get the aliasing right for the ps3. But the colors are indeed more vivid on the ps3 version. As for COD, it does look better on the 360, but a LOT, unlike this.
I owned COD mw2 on both the 360 and ps3, and 360's was definitely better, thats because the developers didn't want to do the work. The ps3, is more powerful than the 360, quit being a dumbass fanboy, 360 is not the same as the ps3, their anti aliasing is NOT the same, if the developers don't account for that then, you get jaggies in one version more than the other.

I have to agree. Xbox360's version(Super Street fighter 4) is better than the ps3, i have both games on both systems. So can't call me a fanboy.

PS3 is superior the fact that the ps3's hdmi output has a full range feature ,a super white feature: for beautiful contrast between the lightness and darkness, and a deep color output makes PS3 the absolute best system for Graphics

  • Patsy

I know, this is a VERY old topic but you are all freaky guys! Saying "you are a fanboy!" while you are a troll yourself…

Both system has equal performances, if it wasn't the case, we should have seen real differences since 4 years…

About HDMI colours… The HDMI advantage of the PS3 is ONLY for blu-ray movies and NOT used for games! So it's the same for both systems.

Xbox 360 playing games in native 1080p? WTF! the console does a VERY good upscale for every non native 1080p games BUT most of them are in native 720p. Anyway the console is also capable, like the ps3 to render games in NATIVE 1080p (exemples: Sacred 2, Virtua Tennis 3, Street Home Court, Street Fighter II HD and some other little xbla shits…). Here again it's almost the same for both system even if the PS3 doesn't automaticaly upscale all the games to full HD. The job is often given to your TV and the list of native 1080p games on PS3 is really short too. Look at this-> http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=46241

Wait for the next generation to spend your time for comparisons… It's really unusefull for PS3 VS 360… (well anyway, it will surely still be unuseful haha). What am I doing here?

    • Jason

I have to agree with Patsy with his post..As for me.I enjoy all platfroms:) none are better than the other to me. I just like playing games and having fun

  • Justin

The 360 hardware is actually incapable of displaying a genuine 1920×1080 sized progressive image. It's just a technical limitation of the console.

The PS3 however is capable of displaying genuine 1920×1080 progressive frames, as well as well as having a massively larger latitude across the spectrum of shading on colors it can display.

All in all, as far as the capability of the systems go, the PS3 is a vastly superior machine in terms of it's ability to display a moving image on your screen. Whether a given game takes advantage of that is another thing.

The reason you see less 'jaggies' on specific 360 titles is because of the massive upscaling it will do on a lot of games, the same way newer DVD players and Blu-Ray players will upscale your DVD's to look higher quality (pseudo-1080p).

To see the real difference in what true 1080p will look like, play Final Fantasy XIII on a PS3 on a 42 inch or larger LCD 1080p TV, and then play it on an XBox 360 on the same TV. It's extremely apparent.

Most games, even on the PS3, are 720p simply because they are cross platform so it's the standard at the moment since the 360 is very popular, but only capable of 720p (technically not even that.)

On another note playing online with SSF4 with the ps3 has longer connection times, unstable connections, While Xbox live is faster and more reliable, It isn't my IP that causes my ps3's lag time and slow and bad connections it is PSN, Xbox 360 is the better online experience and more than happy to pay for it. Like I said I have both systems and play them both equally. I just have a better overall experience on my 360
