Latest Toyota Recall and Fine Update

Toyota is not having a good week, but that is something that we have been saying a lot since the end of last year. Just this morning we reported that the Japanese automaker was to recall 600,000 Sienna minivans built between 1998-2010, due to the holdings on the spare tire rusting.

Toyota has said that they are working to resolve this problem – thankfully there have been no reports on injury. But this has not been the only recall worry for Toyota this week – we are talking about the handling problems with the Lexus GX 460.

We reported that the Lexus SUV owned by Toyota was given a “Don’t Buy” warning and the automaker even put a hold on all sales until they could carry out their own tests.

Finally, we have had reports from Reuters that Toyota was to pay the $16.4 million fine imposed by U.S. regulators. The company does not want to admit any wronging, if regulators do not agree then Toyota could appeal the fine, which has to be paid on Monday, April 19, 2010.
