Today will see Microsoft finally pull the plug on online multiplayer gaming for Halo 2 via Xbox Live, Bungie have taken this opportunity to show their gamers gratitude for staying loyal to the game for so long.
When gamers search for games they will see this message; “Thanks for playing. Seriously? More than five years after launch? You’re awesome.”
In fact it is closer to 5 years and 6 months since the release of Halo 2, the game first hit the shelves on November 9th 2004 and according to MSNBC in the game’s first day it reached $125 million in sales.
As of March 29th 2010 Halo 2 had the most unique users playing on Xbox Live (in terms of Xbox Originals), other originals still being played online included Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Splinter Cell Chaos, Fable and Counter-Strike.
Now that you can no longer play Halo 2 online we thought we would see what our readers thought. Do you think that 5 years Xbox Live support was sufficient? Do you feel Halo 2′s online experience is better than Modern Warfare 2? What game will you play online now instead?
