EDUmobile Offers iPad Tutorials and Development Course

By Gary Johnson - Apr 8, 2010

An iPad programming course that helps developers to create applications for the new tablet PC has just been announced. The new module will include a range of topics to help programmers get used to the key differences and unique features of iPad development compared to that of the iPhone.

The course put together by EDU mobile will be offered to all candidates who are doing the iPhone course free of charge. Developers will learn to use the iPad SDK to create an application from scratch and much more. Students will learn how to make their apps work on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.

EDU mobile is currently training over 200 students from around the world, which has made it the leader in online iPhone Development Training. The course is to encourage developers who normally make apps for the iPhone, to support the iPad that sold over 300,000 units in less than 24 hours of the launch.

About a year ago I had a terrible experience with them.

    Details:

Edumobile tries to add value to their course by calling it a 12-week course.

They send you one lesson per week.

Unfortunately, each lesson is very short (1 hour?)

then you gotta wait an entire week for the next lesson.

What? Wait 3 months for material that you can absorb in 1-2 days?

I wanted to get my iPhone developer Intern up to speed asap,

so, just before purchase I emailed Edumobile asking if they’d consider

speeding up the lessons, sending us each lesson as soon as

we completed the previous one–and they said YES.

They told me to contact them each time we completed a lesson,

requesting them to send the next one. Fair enough.

The first time that went smoothly. But after lesson 2 they stalled

for almost a week (which is their normal delay),

then after subsequent lessons they started playing games

and not replying back to me.

Finally I emailed their SEO and let him know that

    (a) I did not want the remaining lessons; (b) I wanted an immediate refund;

and (c) I demanded an apology from the moron who was playing

delay games with me; and finally (d) I have a substantial blog

following & opt-in mailing list, and HUGE social network reach, and

had my finger on the trigger of doing a review of those Edumobile clowns.

Got my refund, plus got an apology email from the clown.

I had taken this course in past and it was really good. However, i could not complete it that time because of my busy schedule and when i asked them for refund they refunded me within 2-3 days after taking my transaction details even after 3 months of my payment. even though, their refund policy is only for 30 days.. so i guess they are doing a wonderful business which i really appreciate.

This course is a rip off and a waste of money. The presenter mumbles throughout the video and it appears he is more talking to himself than presenting a class. The course material is hard to follow, with no page numbering and is all over the place. There is no contact from your so called "personal tutor", replies to questions in the forums are few and far between.

There is a 30 day guarantee, to which they completely IGNORE when requested to refund and un enrol a student from the course.

I researched this course via google before enrolling and found no negative feedback so now I am out of pocket, with no results I feel it necessary to inform anyone who might be considering doing this course of the issues therein. Don't do it – don't waste your money or time.
